Nominated

Life should never revolve around the blog.

The blog should always revolve around your life.

Otherwise, how else would I be able to travel and explore the world on a bicycle, blog about my adventure and be nominated as a finalist for Best Travel Blog and Best Micro Blog in the 2011 Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards?

Thank you to whoever nominated me loh. I know I am not worthy, ‘cos like… I don’t update as frequently as I used to. ‘cos if I do, then I think I don’t have to sleep anymore liaw. May as well quit my business and apply for job as Zombies2U Sdn Bhd.

I’m not sure who the other finalists are, but please be sure to check them out and vote for the most deserving winner at http://awards.nuffnang.com/2011/votes

If you think I deserve it, then vote me lah. If not, then vote others lah!

Voting closes 27 November 2011, which coincidentally… is my 29th Birthday.

So… you know lah, HINT HINT.

Sleep Test

Today, I got admitted into hospital.

It’s nothing serious! But I checked myself into Mt Elizabeth to seek a permanent solution for a curse. A curse that has befallen upon every single man, and their wives/girlfriends, in the entire Sia household: SNORING.

Snoring can be cured. But as part of my treatment, the doctor advised me that I had to do a “sleep study” first.

The results of the “sleep study” will tell my doctor how bad my snoring is, whether or not it is a worse condition called sleep apnoea, and the appropriate steps to take next.

To do the “sleep test”, I have to go to sleep while being hooked up to a machine that measures all the different signals my body emits.

The unfortunate side effect…

Makes me look like Darth Vader! Blardy hell.

My LA Marathon Race

The Los Angeles marathon was absolutely extraordinary. For 42km, I ran with a camera in hand shooting videos like a Hollywood director until the battery went flat.

It has been crazy fun tripping through the USA – but I’m ready to come home tomorrow. 🙂

Why I Came To The City Of Angels

4 years ago, Eddie from Los Angeles challenged me to run my first marathon.

I took up the challenge, ran the 42km and almost DIED. After crossing the finishing line, I swore I was never gonna run another marathon race again.

Eddie congratulated me. He said perhaps one day, I would fly to L.A. and join him for the L.A. Marathon. He even gave me a shirt that says “L.A. Marathon In Training”.

I laughed it off, thinking no chance in hell would I fly all the way to Los Angeles just to run a marathon. Back then, I did not even have the budget to do so.

Fast forward to 2010.

Here I am today in Los Angeles, fulfilling a gentleman’s promise I made 4 years ago.

It is the first time I have signed up for a marathon outside Malaysia or Singapore. I have worked really hard for this. The past 3 months, I have been juggling between  writing for this blog, running my business and training for this marathon.

And in 1 hour’s time I’ll be running my race. I cannot wait.

25,000 people from all over the world has taken part in this race. “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson will be cheering from the side. Shia LeBouf (from Transformers), Sean Astin (from Lord of the Rings), Gordon Ramsey (the foul-mouthed chef) will all be running alongside me.

Wish me luck!

How I Inspired A TV Commercial

Not many people can claimed that they inspired a TV Commercial.

But by some bizarre twist of fate, I did.

Friend of mine Alwyn is a film director who recently secured a deal to produce the TV commercial for Dahfa Fish Snack. The director was very much tickled by the fact that I’m a big guy, yet I compete in 42km marathon races around the country regularly. Based on that, he conceptualised the TV commercial and invited me to play the lead role in it.

Next thing I know, I’m on a TV commercial for the second time round.

All I had to do was munch on a packet of Dahfa fish snack while running.

Perhaps, being round and jolly is a good thing after all.
