Like a typical Malaysian, I submitted my income tax forms on the very last day of the deadline.
In total, I have to pay several hundred ringgit in taxes to LHDN, so now the government can use my money to build more SMART tunnels.
My income situation didn’t use to be that complicated, so prevously I got someone else to do it for me. This year is the first year I had to submit my tax declaration as a business owner. And I also took a shot at filling out my tax forms completely on my own.
It’s not easy, mind you. It’s almost like we’re expected have a degree in taxation to be able to fill out these tax forms.
As if it was not daunting enough that a first timer like me had to understand all the different tax laws, LHDN had to make my life more difficult by publishing the forms in BAHASA MALAYSIA.
Being new to this, I was obviously blown away by the various jargons and ended up as confused as a thirsty baby in a tittie bar.
Every few minutes, I have to stop and search for answers online.
It was during one of my searches that I suddenly stumbled upon this gem on Yahoo Answers.
That my friend, the BEST advice ever given.
The Miss Malaysia World pageant is gruesomely diffferent this year. Instead of voting your favourite girl in, you eliminate others by ‘killing’ them on their website.
Remember that leggy girl in the short white bunny outfit from the Nuffnang Wild Live Party? Her name is Germaine and she’s one of the contestants as well.
i pay tax too.
2nd =D
Hahaha… too true!
From picture looks like very, bloody complicated form. This is malaysia, filling form always a headache. Do u think we can report lower income ah? will they check so properly?
It so true but there’s nothing we can do about 🙁
we still need to pay the taxes
I couldn’t agree less
hahahaha! agree 😀
Agreed.
Taxes are supposed to be used to improve the country, not to feed the ministers.
Hopeless country.
Albert Einstein:
‘The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax.’

wtf
5’2 also can join now ar?? what happened to at least 165cm/ 5’5?
ok lar.. still better than last year that adeline lar.
and btw, i thought malays are banned from joining? why got this heidi RAHMAN there…..
hmmmm,….
Haha.. Jia lat if someone decided to find out who this person is.
err…how to explain,
she’s a mix and her mum a Chinese..
this happens in malaysia so often:S di keluar kan…
There’re reference documents in Chinese and English at the following link.
I use them myself since I can’t read Malay.
http://www.hasil.org.my/english/eng_NO5_1.asp
but she not muslim lah, no need di keluarkan..
plus her surname not RAHMAN, is RAMAN..
her mandarin anytime better than u..
haha..
and by no means it was a very good answer by yahoo answers
that is awesomely good advice…
wah… u guys talking about tax… remind me i haven’t paid my tax.. heheh… LOL.. but u guys saying it’s true… LOL!!!
Kill the others, except Chan H.C.
A friend.
ya, the form very “mafan” 1, juz ask the accountant do for u lo, if u hire 1, haha. Agree to the yahoo answer~!!
Don’t be a whinning nerd. You always like to protrait yourself as a high-tech guy then why still use the hardcopy version? Use on-line la stupid.
just hire a good accountant to do it for you, no headache, stay relax.
Yeah, it’s really tiring to do all this. There’s online version of it, but it’s still complicated, and sometimes the gov use a 20GB server for all applications perhaps, cos they never seem to be functional always. And then they charge the people for the price of a high tech server. Zzzzzz
I understand ur prob, cos my dad’s an auditor. There’s always clients coming for asking for help, esp nearing the deadline. Now shud be nearing the deadline in June/Jult for business entity. Anyway, all the best and gud luck! 😛
Just put in one income figure and cross out the rest of the boxes lah! hahahahaha
Doing last min accounts for last min people T___T
Agreed. I pay tax too. not only u can’t read BM, My friend in office also a same. hahaha, why la we living in Malaysia.
Simple.. straight to the point….. I LIKE!
Hahaha…good one…
you need any consultant?
i am always happy to help, at a charge or course 😛
wonder if income from blog advertising taxable?
It is not a good answer!
“LHDN had to make my life more difficult by publishing the forms in BAHASA MALAYSIA”
duh…you live in malaysia, so use BAHASA MALAYSIA lah dork!!! go live somewhere else if you dont want BAHASA MALAYSIA as official language..
“paa pndueknye cnia tka rtei diunutng”…
Go to Travel>Asia Pacific>Malaysia at Yahoo Answers Kenny,
that’s the place where malaysians hang out.
I agree with kenny siau, even if you meant it as a joke, it is pretentious of you to say that when you yourself are a Malaysian.
haha… you should have a try dont pay tax..
Fuck you K’Siau & Peter, just because malay is the official language doesn’t mean it’s the practical language. I doubt the malay taught in high school would suffice in terms of filling out the forms. Have you done tax law before? Capital gains tax, franked dividends, do we have an incremental or flat tax rate? Try turning all the laws that were drafted originally in english to malay and see what you get.
Malaysia doesn’t only have malay speaking people in it, allowances should be made considering it is the government that wishes to tax the citizen. In layman terms, if you want my money make it easy for me to give it to you.
Sigh the old, “you live in malaysia, get out if you don’t like it” is such a cliche”. silly misguided nationalists
DOn’t you try to avoid, under declare.
Every 7 years, you bound to be audited by tax official.
if you live and never die 100 years, your income will be taxed. they can track you back 10 years 20 years and estimate your income and tax you accordingly.
When you build up your wealth, bought houses, and new cars, they TAX men wll knock your door.
But if you have problems with tax man, i can arrange for special paid service to help you to sort things out. only big back dated problems.
//
i second that
True oso..we no need to pay tax to anyone..
Malaysia will always be Malaysia…
with our crappy pride and our senseless “memartabatkan bahasa Malaysia” issues…
It’s a disgrace, really, when educators hide behind that sentiment so much that they themselves don’t know how to communicate in English!
How to go global I ask you?
How to cater to international students I ask you?
How to make our country proud when you are not even on par with international standards?
It’s no longer the issue of wanting to follow western trends.
How do you explain yourselves when you declare your UNIVERSITY as an ENGLISH ZONE and then say in undertones “its only written english zone, we dont speak english yet”?
I’m just so sick of all these people with their excuses designed to mask all their incompetencies.
i don’t get the reason behind paying tax.
Don’t pay the tax! The money goes into cronies too deep pockets.
Having difficulty in understanding the income tax form in Bahasa Malaysia?? Aren’t you suppose to understand it since you are a Malaysian??
Sarcastic yet funny. what a shot. lol
Feel so bodoh-wi to pay the tax cos I dun get much in return except for my pay. No good public transport, less fuel subsidy, the same goes to my food, I still pay for the facilities provided, general hospital sucks and lately even cause death to one of my student, … etc. Sienz… Hope that garmen really going to decrease the % of tax that I going to pay next year.
income tax can oni track back up to 7 years la..where got 20-30 years… but of cos penalty kau kau la..dun even need specialist to negotiate with them, just talk to them and the tax agent will ‘settle’ for you themselves. lol!
I dun mind martabatkan BM, but at least do it in a proper way. Now Dewan bahasa oni like to malaynised english words and claim it to be BM with pride..
Kita seharusnya prioritasikan(prioritize) bahasa melayu dengan mengemfasikan(emphasizing) pengusagean (usage) dan mengkreatkan (create) keimportansian (importance) BM.
Dun bother looking at the dictionary, there’s no such words, at least now, but it might happen in the future.
“Overthrow the government. We pay tax to no one!”
LOL! That’s a good one, haha!
hahaa
overthrow the government?
better not let ISA catch your plan
xDD
Easy. Get the Big 4 to do your tax computations for u. Don’t tell me you don’t know how to do something as simple as that?
Kenny, next time don’t know how to do call me…haha. I will help you to do. Yahoo Help is useless. Not applicable in M’sia context. Hahaha..
“People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people”
this is my answer if you ask me.ok la, i take this qoute from a movie. so can i be your friend ? i gave you best advice ever what! haha
don’t want to pay tax? better migrate to BRUNEI-FREE INCOME TAX,FREE ROAD TAX & also FREE CAR IMPORT TAX.
Fuck you K’Siau & Peter, just because malay is the official language doesn’t mean it’s the practical language. I did my income tax form in Bahasa Malaysia with little problems. When I found something I did not understand while doing it with the so-to-speak High School level of BM, I never hesitated to ask the person in the Tax office. Is there a problem in asking? Kenny said he tried filling it out by himself. I agree with you that Tax laws are very technical. However, are you so sure that Kenny/layman could’ve filled it correctly without aid on the first try if it was in English?
I have friends in USA that even have problems filling their 401k forms and guess what? It is in English! o_O
Malaysia doesn’t only have malay speaking people in it, allowances should be made considering it is the government that wishes to tax the citizen. In layman terms, if you want my money make it easy for me to give it to you.
I see that you are being pretentious too. If it was done in English, what about those who do not understand it like the people who are poorly educated in the language? Are you going to say fuck them too? To settle this problem, the government did the rational and PRACTICAL thing to do; to put it in Bahasa Malaysia since EVERYONE was thought in BM in school.
Sigh the old, “you live in malaysia, get out if you don’t like it” is such a cliche”. silly misguided nationalists
You are using a slippery slope argument here and it makes you sir, look like a retard. Learn to look at the context of what people are saying. I never said if Kenny Sia or anyone who has problems with doing their tax forms in BM they can get out.
I do not even consider myself a nationalist. My only concern is that, people as citizens of this country SHOULD at least be able to a certain degree be functional in Bahasa Malaysia and not whine about things should be in their own understandable language.
agree with peter, we should be adaptable, since BM is not that foreign afterall. I bet if the forms are in latin or spanish, someone else might even feel happy despite not knowing the language. *sigh*..
Btw, big 4 is definitely not feasible la, to the one speaking up there. Damn bloody expensive, I think kenny can use the fees to pay the big 4 to pay income tax for 10 years ady..

I made a mistake in not being clear about what I agree with kenny siau. I agree with the former part of his statement about “if living in malaysia, use the national language” and not the latter about getting out of this country.
I hate income tax too! Tax tax tax but no improvement in the country..
Oh! OH! there is! “Some” people’s wallets gets fatter each year while the Rakyat suffers. And with the recent cut on fuel subsidy, banyak lagi yang ‘untung’-loh. Banyak except the “rakyat”.
Never-use-brain Ministers…BAHHHH!

if u dont even know that, i dont think u wld be of any use.
btw, whats the use of arguing how BM is important in msia? even if u mastered BM, doesnt mean u will know right away how to fill in official forms correctly when it’s all in tax jargons and so on.
every govt department in msia is filled with red tape and nonsense that only they understand.
kenny, u gotta be kidding me!
Germaine muka mcm itu mana jadi Miss Msia?
Are u nuts?????
haha… great find. good for a laugh. can you imagine how workers with taxable wages but are not entirely literate feel when doing this sorta thing?
another business avenue for the person who knows a little bit more about tax…charging an amount for tax forms to be filled out.
in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king
[howshouse.com]
Yea! Overthrow the goverment! Say no to taxes! =D
funny~
can type it out, say it out will be sending into Jail… maybe…
Shioks to hear that~
Eh? This is not funny?
Wah, Kennysia.com earn too much until need to submit B Form kah, LOLz.
That’s a good one! I agree – overthrow the Govt and we don’t pay taxes.
maybe its just another plot of them, want u to file in taxes with mistakes and they charge u double
hahahhah!!!
lol – how true!
just move to Cyprus or Liechtenstein, tax haven….
There is an english version of the Tax form which you can get from the LHDN website. Earn so much but never know how to use the internet to source out the documents. shame on you.
mint, I know. Shame on you for jumping to conclusions. Doesn’t mean it helped much for first-timers.
well then learn it buddy!
Indeed, that was some smart ass reply!
I still haven’t get back my tax rebate.
You are right, the forms are so terrible.
omg the forms look damn complicated.
it sucks so much because for some, bm isn’t their mother tongue even though everyone learns it in sch. i mean if you’re not a malay, do you speak bm at home? =.= i’m not a malaysian so i can’t really say much… but from what i’ve read in the news, the ministers are really o____o it’s a shame that you guys have got such an “unique” govt system.
This year I hope a Sabahan will take the Miss Malaysia/World crown: Devenna or Joanne Kimberley:

Under the 20-point agreement when Sabah & Sarawak formed malaysia. BM does not applied to these 2 states as the official medium for instruction. English is guarantteed perpetually. Look it up on the 20-point agreement and see what I mean. You can actually refuse to submit it, unless it is given to you in english, being sarawakian.
no taxation no representation !
